Author of Taking Care of People with Dementia – an A-Z of practical help and caregivers’ stories.
Janet came to England as a teenager to study nursing in January 1970 and retired 40 yrs later. Having arrived in the middle of winter, from the Caribbean, she maintains a love-hate relationship with snow.
Janet used her experiences on the wards, in the community, and in her close association with families of the mentally ill and of people with dementia to write and publish her book in 2017. Janet was challenged by those carers, especially the carers of people with dementia, to write about their experiences of caring because they felt that no one would believe some of the emotional, physical and psychological situations they were enduring.
Apart from writing, Janet enjoys gardening, cooking, and learning languages. She is a churchwarden and volunteers at her local Age Concern.
