Author of the Week, Carol Thomas
To celebrate the release of her latest romantic comedy novel, Maybe Baby, we are delighted to welcome Carol Thomas as our Author of the Week!
Congratulations on the publication of Maybe Baby, tell us a little about the book.
Maybe Baby is the sequel to The Purrfect Pet Sitter (Lisa Blake book #1), published by Ruby Fiction. While each book can be read as a standalone story, Maybe Baby revisits the characters readers have enjoyed in The Purrfect Pet Sitter as they move into the next phase of their lives.
Maybe Baby is the story of what happens after the happy ever after …
Lisa Blake is back with her first love, she’s reunited with her best friend Felicity, and life is looking good; even her pet sitting skills are improving – everybody knows you can’t believe all you read in the local Gazette, don’t they?
Felicity is on the cusp of achieving her perfect wife-mum-life balance; Her husband, Pete, is being wonderfully attentive, and her four children are getting older and wiser (sometimes too much wiser) by the day.
But with secrets to be revealed and discoveries to be made, it seems life is full of unexpected surprises!
This is your first novel to be released as an audiobook too, how have you found listening to the story?
It is very exciting. Maybe Baby is out now in ebook and audio formats, while The Purrfect Pet Sitter, currently ebook only, is due out in paperback and audio on August 6th.
I always listen to my books, as I find it helps with the editing process, but it is different hearing my computer read them – with a slightly monotone voice – to having the story actually brought to life by a professional narrator. Audiobooks are increasingly popular, and so I am grateful to my publisher for the opportunity and delighted to have my books released in this format.
What are you working on next?
I have started work on a contemporary romance novel that got put aside while I focused on Maybe Baby so I will be heading back to that, reminding myself of where I left my characters and working on what I have in store for them next. I also have two children’s books written that are awaiting illustrations.
For those who would like to know more about my romance writing, I am taking part in a Romance Panel in Central Library, Portsmouth, Tuesday 23rd April, 6.30pm, as part of an evening of bookish events for World Book Night. Tickets will be available through the library closer to the time (phone 023 9281 9311 for availability).
I also hope to be involved in some of the fabulous Chindi events planned for the coming year.
Thank you for joining us on our blog. We hope your author week goes well and wish you every success with Maybe Baby.
